I wanted to address the issue of exercise because the 3X Weight Loss Program is unconventional in that respect.
In the 3X Program, a lot of women are getting amazing results strictly through nutrition. Say what? You heard me right. They’re NOT exercising, but they’re still burning fat like crazy. Sounds too good to be true I know, but exercise was intentionally left out at the beginning of my program for reasons I’m going to explain. You may be scratching your head right about now, but trust me on this one!
How can women lose weight without exercise? How is this possible? After all, it goes against everything you’ve probably read about weight loss. Before I explain, I want to make it clear that I am not against exercise – it’s 100% beneficial for the body. Exercise tones the muscles. It builds strength. And, it’s crucial for shaping, toning, and sculpting. No questions asked: exercise keeps our bodies looking fit and young!
However, exercise is not the most efficient means to lose weight– I know, I’m making a very bold statement! But if you’ve ever exercised like crazy not to drop a single pound, you probably get this one. I know a lot of women can relate. This is where frustrated women tend to blame their stubborn fat on aging, hormones, or having two or three kids, and who can blame them? It’s a real dilemma, right ladies?!
How do I know that exercise is not the magic ingredient to weight loss like it’s purported to be? Because, I’ve coached thousands of women who’ve lost anywhere from 10 to 100 pounds and they did not exercise to shed the weight.
The Hidden Truth About Weight Loss
You’ve probably heard that weight loss is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise. I used to believe that too. But, what I found out through my own experience losing weight and coaching so many women is that it’s simply not true.
In fact, “weight loss” is actually 0% exercise and 100% nutrition. How does this work? For starters, weight loss is not about calories. That’s another bold statement that challenges the conventional way of thinking about weight loss, but it’s true. Your body does not burn fat based on the number of calories you eat. Your body burns fat based on the hormonal responses that occur when you eat certain types of foods.
It has been scientifically proven that your body will tap into stored fat when it gets the nutrients it needs – it’s not a matter of calories. It all comes down to eating the right types of foods. So, if you’re on a calorie-restricted diet and you’re exercising, you’re burning calories and that’s awesome. If your goal is to continue burning calories, keep it up. But, if your goal is to burn fat to lose weight, you want your body to tap into stored body fat. In that case, don’t focus on calories and exercise – focus on nutrition.
To truly burn stored body fat, 100% of the nutrition you’re consuming should allow your body to tap into stored fat. Your body should be using stored body fat as energy instead of burning off the food that you’re eating (the calories you’re taking in). So, the idea is for your body to be burning stored fat as fuel. When you focus on nutrition, your body becomes a fat-burning machine. No exercise required!
When Should I Start Exercising?
The goal of 3X Weight Loss is get your body into fat-burning mode. By doing so, you’re able to lose weight quickly and without starving yourself. That’s how you lose weight without having to go to the gym or exercise yourself to death. If you want to lose weight without starving and exercising, it’s entirely doable. And, once you lose the weight and eliminate all the excess fat, that’s when you start exercising.
So, what’s the magic number for jumping back into exercise? If you have 25 or more pounds to lose, my advice is to concentrate solely on nutrition in the beginning of your journey. Your focus should be on resetting your metabolism so it’s running optimally. You want to get everything operating normally before you embark on an exercise routine.
There are a lot of super intense exercise programs, and they’re not meant for people who have a lot of weight to lose. So, my recommendation is to hold off on exercise until you’ve gotten down to less than 25 pounds or more ideally, 10 to 15 pounds from your goal weight – that’s when you start exercising to tone, build muscle, and strength. That’s when you can really focus on getting the look that you want. Until then, focus on getting your nutrition right and watch the pounds melt away!
